RFS visit to Cradley woodlands

I had a great day yesterday with the RFS. (royal Forestry Society) visiting the woodlands of the Duchy of Cornwall’s Cradley estate.  It is so impressive to see woodlands  that are being managed with a vision for the long term with all the benefits to wildlife that brings.

So many people look at woodlands in terms of their own lifetime, not realising that for instance an Oak tree should be harvested when it is 120 years old to get the best value from it but at the same time creating fantastic habitat for wildlife.
